CoaguChek ® S system - The small, convenient and fast solution for Patient Self-Monitoring
The CoaguChek S system is a reflectance photometer for fast (1 min) on-the-spot measurement of Prothrombin Time (PT) and International Normalised Ratio (INR) from one single drop (10 µl) of capillary, means from the fingertip, or venous whole blood. In addition, the CoaguChek S system has a large, easy-to-read and icon-based display.
The CoaguChek S system is no longer promoted in the UK as the system has been replaced by the XS Plus and XS systems.
Roche Diagnostics would like to inform existing customers of the planned removal of the CoaguChek S PT test strips 12 (11937634190) and PT test strips 48 (11937642190) packs, in addition to CoaguChek S PT controls (11937669190) from the UK market by April 2012. The last production run for the manufacture of these consumables will be April 2011.
The first model, the Roche CoaguChek system, has been available since 1993. Its successor, the CoaguChek S system, which was launched in 2000, is CE marked and extensively evaluated in the UK and has shown to produce results equal in accuracy to laboratory tests.
As the Roche CoaguChek systems provide patients with more independence and increase their quality of life, CoaguChek system are used by over 150,000 people in many countries. (2005) Because more frequent testing is helping to keep the patient within his or her individual therapeutic range for longer, this subsequently reduces the odds of complications (bleeding/thrombosis) associated with Vitamin K Antagonists treatment.
